Following its gripping world premiere in 2025, Chicago Repertory Ballet proudly brings back The Capulets for a limited return engagement this November.
Conceived and choreographed by Wade Schaaf, The Capulets is a daring reimagining of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Julietthat turns the spotlight away from the famous lovers and into the heart of the Capulet family itself.
Set to an evocative original score by Matty Mattsson and featuring immersive projection design by SPAN Design, this cinematic full-length ballet explores the hidden passions, betrayals, and fractures simmering beneath the surface of Verona’s most powerful household.
At the center of the story is Lady Capulet—trapped between duty and desire—as her secret relationship with Tybalt threatens to unravel the family from within. Against a backdrop of violence, ambition, and mounting tension, The Capulets delivers an emotionally charged theatrical experience unlike any traditional telling of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy.
Dark, visceral, and visually stunning, this revival invites audiences back into the world of one of Chicago Repertory Ballet’s most ambitious productions to date.
